We’re almost at the end of another year. Now might be the perfect time to think about what new improvements you can bring next year to your business. Here are six ideas for potential New Year’s resolutions that are certain to get you transitioning into the new year with a newfound sense of enthusiasm.
Learn a new business skill
January could be a great time to work on expanding your business skill set. This might be a skill that allows you to offer a new service to clients. Alternatively, you could aim to get more digitally savvy by getting to grips with social media or Photoshop or web design. You may even want to take a course in leadership to become a better boss and discover new exciting ways of motivating your team. The likes of Impact Factory have all kinds of short courses lasting only a couple days.
Fix up your finances
A new year could be the perfect time to start fixing your finances. This could include trimming costs and shopping around for cheaper business solutions and insurance rates. You may want to create a new way of organizing your finances either by downloading a new accounting programme or setting up a new account to separate personal costs from business costs.
Maximise your marketing
The start of a new year may be a dry period for business. It could be an ideal time to pour money into a serious marketing campaign. You may want to hire a professional company such as Mighty 8th Media to boost your advertising, or you may want to spend more time on DIY methods such as social media, email marketing and attending networking events. Locate your marketing weakness and try and strengthen it.
Do you need new staff members, but haven’t had the time to properly advertise. The new year could be a good time to improve your hiring process. Many people are certain to be looking for new jobs in the new year as a fresh start – this means more job seekers to choose from.
Update your office space
The new year is a great time to consider renovating your office, giving you a fresh environment to work in. Less people have renovations done at the beginning of the year, having spent a lot on Christmas. Decorating companies and furniture retailers often slash prices as a result to get more business. All in all, you could save money by updating your office at this time of the year. Also, consider updating your tech – do you need new computers or phones?
Find more time for yourself
Running a business can be super-stressful. Looking after yourself should always come before looking after your business. If you’ve been working long hours and not spending enough time with your family, work on new ways of outsourcing and delegating tasks to give you more free time or take on less work if you can. Alternatively, the new year could be a great time for a break – treat yourself to a holiday. Recharging your batteries will allow you to enter work mode feeling rejuvenated and more motivated.
