Even the most careful people on the planet can be quite clumsy at times. You might forget about that cup of coffee you made over an hour ago, and you could end up knocking it over onto your laptop, for instance. That’s not a good scenario when you are an entrepreneur and need your laptop to carry out all your work!
There are various things that can go wrong with tech, especially computers. If you use your laptop religiously, you will probably be praying that nothing goes wrong with yours, but there are just some emergencies that are completely unavoidable. To help you in your time of need, here are some of the most common emergencies and what you can do about them.
Everyone has done it at one point or another! So, what should you do if you accidentally get a splash of coke or coffee on your laptop? First of all, don’t panic! First of all, turn off the laptop as soon as possible so that you prevent any damage to the circuit. Make sure it is unplugged from a power source so that you can take out the batter. Then remove any USBs, media cards, and anything else that is plugged into your laptop. You can then mop up the liquid using a dry cloth. If you are able to, disassemble the laptop so that you can dry out as many areas as possible.
Deleting An Important File
It can be ever so easy to delete an important file by accident. This can really send some entrepreneurs into a panic, especially if it is something that they were working on or an important contract! The best thing you can do in this kind of situation is to find a firm offering managed IT services who are able to find a deleted file in just a moment’s notice. You can try to recover the file yourself, but it may take some time. As long as you regularly backup your laptop, you should be able to see the file in your File History folder.
Even if you have all the latest antivirus software on your laptop, you might find that a virus can still slip through the cracks. As viruses can often present themselves in different ways, you need to figure out whether you do actually have a virus on your hands. If you think that you do, disconnect from the internet straight away so that the virus is unable to update itself. You can then start to fix things by restarting your laptop in safe mode. When you are in safe mode, you should be able to use an antivirus program or software to clean your laptop. This won’t always be successful, though, as some viruses are fiendishly difficult to remove. If you can’t seem to rid your laptop of the virus, it’s worth taking it to an IT expert to sort out.
Hopefully, you don’t need to shout “SOS” whenever you face a new laptop emergency!
