This often happens as a result of larger corporations with more capital bullying smaller businesses or offering better value that smaller companies just simply can’t deal with.

A great way to set yourself apart and find a new audience (or reinvigorate an existing one) is to develop a new niche. This can usually be done by making a new product, but it has to be in some way related to your current specialty.
For example, if you’re a tech company that creates smartphones that are popular with young adults, then you could change your product to suit business workers or seniors instead. There’s a lot you can do to switch gears and try to appeal to a new audience, but it doesn’t come without risk.
If you try to appeal to a wider audience, then you may end up frustrating your current audience. It’s a risk you just have to take, or else you risk running a stagnant business that will eventually become obscure.
Selling Your Business
Unless you’re fortunate enough to break into the international market and have a product or service that is in demand across the world, you’ll likely have to be content with selling your business in the future once you’re overtaken.
It sounds like a daunting task, but there is plenty of additional info you can find on the internet. You’ll want to look for business brokers that are capable of helping you market your company, and they’ll handle most of the work involved including all of the legal proceedings.
Selling your business should be considered a last resort, but if you’re content with the success you’ve had so far, then selling your business once it has peaked can be a smart option.

Before you decide to quit your business, it’s worth asking yourself why you’re quitting. Let’s face it, if you have the idea of becoming the number one company in a specific industry, then it’s an admirable goal but also rather foolish. The problem is that a small startup can’t get anywhere close to the big companies that have been operating for several decades. This is why it’s important to occasionally switch your goals and follow another path. For instance, you could change the purpose of your business to just serve a niche and build a community around your products.
Success doesn’t have to be measured in the amount of profit you make. Sometimes, success can be measured by the feedback you get from the audience and how you support your customers. Switching your company goals can give you a completely different outlook on how you run your business, so consider it as an option when your business falls behind.
