If you’ve set up a little business on the side, then exciting times are ahead for you. Side hustles take a lot of work to get right, and it is often the case that people do it for fun, not for money. But we’re not here for fun, we’re here for the money side of things. Do it right, and you could be making hundreds of extra pounds a month, without even having to quit your day job. Imagine the income you could bring into your household! So if you’re struggling to get your side hustle to bring in enough income, here’s how you can boost it.
This is the first hurdle where people might be falling. If your business doesn’t look the business, you’re not going to bring in business. A mouthful, we know! But it’s true. People like professionalism, and like to know that a business is well established before using their hard earned money through it. One technique you could try that will bring in custom from further afield is a po box. This gives you a virtual mailbox in a different country. All of your mail sent there will be diverted to your virtual inbox, and it gives your business the international status it might not already have. If you have addresses registered in multiple countries, it shows a business is well established, and have experience! Whilst we’re keeping things virtual, you could also look into the cost of a virtual receptionist. Again, adding that lure of professionalism to potential customers.
For small home side businesses, social media marketing is going to become your best friend. The chances are high that you aren’t going to be bringing in enough of an income to dabble in the other areas of marketing, but social media will do just fine. You need to be utilizing Twitter and Instagram as much as you can. Facebook is becoming slightly outdated in the fact people only seem to be using it for a good stalk. But the other two are where the action is happening. Make sure you’re utilizing hashtags as much as possible. They’re the way you’re going to be able to connect with the people who will actually be interested in your products. Keeping both social media accounts active, and professional at all times is essential. Post daily about offers you have, products you’ve sold in the past, customer reviews etc. With Instagram in particular, you need to make sure you’re putting professional, artsy looking pictures to draw attention.
This is one of the main reasons why people don’t bring in enough income, they simply don’t dedicate enough time to it. Which is understandable. If you’ve been at work all day, the last thing you want to do is sit down and do more work. But this is where you need to prioritize your time. Have an hour to relax after work, then set yourself an hour to do work. Then have an hour to shower or watch TV etc. then do another hours work. That is all it should take commitment wise to keep a nice income coming in from a side hustle.
